DESCRIPTION: This
tutorial shows you how you can make a beautiful frame to
decorate your photos ... by using PI and different
filters.
|
For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to
make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same
color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again, so
next time I'm only referring to 1 White, 3 Black or 2
Gold (=GoldPatternFill). Just repeat the steps I'm
explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand
sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of
the color.)
To make it more easy to select a border, right
click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the
border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape:
Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this
way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the
background and the border. (On the assumption that all
sides have been expanded equally!)
|
 |
Open
the picture, go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides
equally 1 pixel, Expand: White.
Select the border, go to Edit/Fill/Image (red
arrow)/File and find the file (white arrow) with the
name - tut_frame_035_GoldPatternFill. Remember to check
the box Tile the image (1). Click OK.
Selection/None.
Expand: 3 White, select the border and go to Effect/
Bordermania/Frame #2:
3/3/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.
2 Gold. |
|
 |
Expand: 5 White, select the border and go to Effect/
Bordermania/Frame #2:
5/5/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.

|
 |
Expand: 20 Black, select the border and go to Effect/
Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
White (red arrow)
thickness: 18
transparency: 48
Deselect.
1 White + 1 Gold + 1 White + 2 Gold. |
|
 |
Expand: 25 White, select the border and go to Effect/
Filter Factory E (red arrow)/Gradient Blocks (white
arrow) and use these settings (1):
232/206/225/218/255/255/255:
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using
Filters Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same
anyway.
Click Apply and keep the border selected. |
|
|
 |
Go
to Effect/FM Tile Tools/Blend Emboss and apply the
default settings twice.
Keep the border selected, and go to Effect/Almathera/
A Halo and use these settings twice:
Black + 18/48.
Deselect.
3 Gold, select the border and go to Effect/Bordermania/
Frame #2: 3/3/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.
1 Black + 1 White + 2 Black + 1 Gold. |
|
 |
Expand: 30 Black, select the border and go to Effect/
Filter Factory E (red arrow)/Gradient/Spokes Ratio Maker
(white arrow) and use this setting (1): 232.
Click Apply and keep the border selected.
Go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black + 18/48.
Deselect.
1 Black + 3 Gold.
Merge All, and your frame is finished. |
|
That's it! A beautiful frame for any kind of photo or
artwork ... done with PI and different filters. HAVE
FUN!!!
