DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a beautiful frame to decorate your photos or pictures ... by using PI and different filters.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again -, so next time I'm only referring to 1 Black or 2 Color (=Foreground color) or 5 Gold (=Magic Gradient Fill). Just repeat the steps I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in
front of the color.)

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture and choose a Foreground color (white hand). I used for this picture 172/165/139. Go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand: Black. Select the border, right click/Convert to Object, right click/Shadow and use the 5. one with these settings: 16/99/7.
Deselect.

Expand: 2 White. Go to Edit/Fill/ Gradient (red arrow)/Magic Gradient (1). Choose Mode 4 (2), click the Edit button (white arrow) and choose palette 008. Selection/None.

1 Black.

Expand: 5 Gold. Select the border and go to Effect/Screen Works/Lace Screen.
Go to Web/Button Designer/Any Shape and use these settings for the Basic (red arrow):
Light angle: 315
Light elevation: 35
Bevel size: 3
Bevel smoothness: 0
Choose the second bevel (1) under Bevel (white arrow).
Deselect.

Expand: 20 Foreground color, select the border and open the lace tile (1) you want to use. Copy the tile (Ctrl+C), activate the main picture (2). Go to Edit/Fill/Image (red arrow), click the box for Clipboard (white arrow), and the box for Tile the image. Set the Merge (white hand) to Multiply.
Click OK and keep the border selected.

Go to Web/Button Designer/Any Shape and use these settings for the Basic:
Light angle: 315
Light elevation: 35
Bevel size: 6
Bevel smoothness: 6
Choose the second bevel under Bevel and change under Light (white hand) the setting for Specular (red arrow)  from 10  to 15.
Deselect.

1 Black + 2 Gold + 1 Black.

Expand: 28 Foreground color, select the border and go to Effect/Greg's Factory Output Vol.II (red arrow)/Pool Shadow (white arrow) and use these settings (1):
50/50/50/50/50/50/35/124.
Your screenshot might look different, since I'm using Filters Unlimited 2 - but the settings are the same anyway.
Click Apply and keep the border selected.
Go to Effect/ Bordermania/Frame #2: 28/28/31/22 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.

2 Gold + 1 Black.

Expand: 33 Foreground color, select the border and go to Effect/Filters Unlimited 2.0/Paper Textures/Japanese Paper: 135/87. If you don't have Filters Unlimited you can browse through the Texture Filter from PI 8 to find similar texture. (Paper03 inside the PAPER folder from PI 8).

Effect/Bordermania/Frame #2: 5/6/71/85 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.

2 Gold and then Merge All.

That's it! A beautiful and special frame for any kind of photo or artwork ... done with PI and different filters. HAVE FUN!!!
