DESCRIPTION: This tutorial shows you how you can make a beautiful frame to decorate your photos with ... by using PI and different filters.

Remember to save often!

For this tutorial, as for all of them, we are going to make a lot of similar frames/borders, with the same color/fill/pattern - using the same steps over again -, so next time I'm only referring to 1 Acadie (=tile from Acadie Art, use Edit/Fill/Image) or 2 Black. Just repeat the steps I'm explaining for the first frame/border. (Always expand sides equally, and with the pixels mentioned in front of the color.)

To make it more easy to select a border, right click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape: Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the background and the border. (On the assumption that all sides have been expanded equally!)

Open the picture, go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand: Black. Select the border, right click/Convert to Object, right click/Shadow and use the 5.one (red arrow) with these settings:
16/99/7.
Deselect.

Expand: 1 White, select the border and go to Edit/Fill/ Image (red arrow) and find the texture you want to use (white arrow). For this frame I used one from Acadie Art/ Ribbon tile/salmonsatin.jpg. Remember to check the box Tile the image (1). Click OK.
Selection/None.

1 Black.

2 Acadie, select the border, go to Effect/Screen Works/ Dot Screen.

2 Acadie, select the border, go to Effect/ Screen Works/Dot Screen.

1 Black + 1 Acadie + 1 Black.

Expand: 10 Acadie, and select the border. Go to Effect/ Noise/Add Noise/Options and use these settings:
Uniform (red arrow) / Variance: 10 (white arrow).
Click OK and keep the border selected. Go to Effect/ Almathera/A Halo, with these settings: Black + 6/61.
Deselect.

1 Black + 1 Acadie + 1 Black.

2 Acadie, select the border, go to Effect/ Screen Works/Dot Screen.

Expand: 20 Acadie and select the border.
Go to Effect/Material Effect/Texture Filter/Embossed and find the Texture Image you want to use. By clicking the little icon (red arrow) you can also add textures to your Texture Filter. Do so with the texture file - tut_frame_028_texture - you've downloaded,  and choose it afterwards with these settings (1):
89/36/7/0 + Direction: 45
Click OK/Apply Current Frame Effect to Image (white arrow) and keep the border selected.

Go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and use these settings:
Black (red arrow)
thickness: 9
transparency: 73
Deselect.

1 Black + 1 Acadie + 1 Black + 1 Acadie + 1 Black.

2 Acadie, select the border, go to Effect/ Screen Works/Dot Screen.

Expand: 28 Acadie, and select the border. Go to Effect/ UnPlugged Tools (red arrow)/Spice Dots (white arrow) and use these settings (1): 9/191/255/255/192/128/161/0.
Since I'm using Filters Unlimited, your screenshot might look different, but the settings are the same anyway.
Keep the border selected, go to Effect/FM Tile Tool/ Blend Emboss and use the default settings.
To adjust the Brightness, click twice the - (white hand). Go to Effect/Bordermania/ Frame #2: 28/28/51/48 + Notch Corners and deselect.

1 Acadie + 1 Black.

2 Acadie, select the border, go to Effect/Screen Works/ Dot Screen.

1 Black + 1 Acadie and Merge All.

That's it! A beautiful frame for any kind of photo or artwork ... done with PI and different filters. HAVE FUN!!!
