DESCRIPTION: This
tutorial shows you how you can make beautiful frames for
any picture/photo you like ... by using PI and different
filters.
|
To make it more easy to select a border, right
click/All, right click/Border and set the Pixels of the
border for the Border width, Direction: Inward, Shape:
Box. You can always use the Magic Wand Tool, but this
way it's more easy if you use similar colors for the
background and the border. (On the assumption that all
sides have been expanded equally!)
|
 |
Open
the picture you want to use.
Go to Adjust/Expand Canvas/Expand sides equally 1 pixel,
Expand: White, select the border and go to Effect/Fills
and Textures/Kaleidoscope Fill. Click the Edit button
and choose the palette 102. Right click on the black
squares (red arrows) and change the color to 75/83/87.
Right click the white squares and change the color to a
light color: 247/240/238. If you want to save your new
palette, click Add. Click OK and choose Pattern template
12 and Pattern sample 2.
Deselect.
Expand sides equally 1 pixel, Expand: 198/168/169
(that's also my Foreground color - white hand).
Once again make another border with the Artist Texture.
Use the same settings as before. Deselect. |
We are going to make several more frames like these
frames (same steps), so next time I'm only referring to
frame 1 (Artist Texture) or to frame 2 (Foreground
color). Just repeat the steps we've done right now.
|
 |
Expand sides equally 15 pixels, Foreground color.
Select the border, and go to Effect/Almathera/A Halo and
use these settings:

Expand sides equally 5 pixels, Expand color: White,
select the border, and go to Effect/Fills and Textures/
Kaleidoscope Fill and use the same settings as before.

5/5/110/130 + Notch Corners.
Deselect. |
|
 |
Expand sides equally 25 pixels, Foreground color.
Select the border, go to Effect/Fills and Textures/
Texture Filter/Embossed (white hand). Click the Texture

emboss007.bmp (white arrow). Use these settings:
80/26/54/0, Dir: 45

25/25/51/63 + Notch Corners.
Deselect.
Add frames 1 + 2 + 1.
